Explore Mustard Season in Napa Valley

It’s our favorite time of year when the Valley comes to life with bursts of yellow blooms. As far as the eye can see, colorful mustard flowers grace our vineyards, offering a spectacular backdrop for a day of wine tasting. Here are our recommendations for the top places where you can take in all the splendor of this scenic season.

Luna Vineyard

Luna’s pioneering roots began in Napa Valley over two decades ago, as the first along the Silverado Trail to plant Pinot Grigio. Today, they are still dedicated to innovation – creating uniquely balanced wines crafted to accompany a wide variety of foods and occasions. They welcome guests daily two locations (their Napa estate or Village Tasting Room) to experience the ultimate collaboration - between food and wine, chef and vineyard - form barrel tastings to al fresco dining.

Frog’s Leap

Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come they look forward growing and learning more about themselves, their wines and they we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Chimney Rock

What starts in the vineyard comes to fruition in the winery. Winemaker Elizabeth Vianna is deeply cognizant and intimately familiar with the estate's vineyards and she fully captures the estate's unique terroir through meticulous vineyard management and careful, artistically minimal winemaking principles. This “non-interventionist” style of winemaking allows the winemaker to fully utilize that which this wonderful and unique Stags Leap soil is capable of delivering. The end result offers wines that are pristine and authentic in terms of varietal character, accompanied by a velvety taste in the mouth and astounding softness, balance, and cohesion.

Bouchaine Vineyards

Visit this authentic Napa winery! Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Carneros District – a winery that began making wine long before the region earned its reputation for producing the great Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays of Carneros today. The roots of Bouchaine go back to long before Prohibition, when it was first owned by the remarkably-named Mr. Boon Fly, who grew grapes and fruit beginning in the late 1880’s. The property was bought by Johnny Garetto in 1929, and sold in 1951 to Beringer, who used it as a blending and production facility for almost 30 years. It wasn’t until Gerret and Tatiana Copeland became the sole proprietors that the winery and vineyards were completely renovated and over 100 acres of estate vineyards were added. Today, Bouchaine creates superior wines that capture the elegance of Burgundy and the exuberance and authenticity of Carneros.

Starmont Winery

Sitting at the Crossroads of Carneros and Napa Valley, Starmont occupies a portion of the historic Stanly Ranch. Established as a wine growing region over 150 years ago, Carneros is world renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With foggy mornings and cool afternoon bay breezes creating the perfect conditions for these varietals, Starmont wines are expressive, food-friendly and distinctly Carneros.
